Like any other normal person, I also have my shares of 'likes' and 'dislikes'. And needless to say, some of them can be stated while some cannot be! My close friends will vouch for that...:-)

I like painting and collaging. It was my mother who introduced me to the world of art at a very early age and I learnt quite a lot from her.

Then I got trained from a few professionals. Finally I started experimenting on my own. I will include some of them out here when I scan them! In the meantime, it is advised not to keep very high hopes on my (master) pieces!

I have dabbled quite a lot with water colours, oils as well as pastels and charcoal. I personally like landscaping with water colours. Painting with water colours can be sometimes quite tricky, specially when the colours start mixing with each other and one gets an undesired output!

Like any typical Indian, I am an avid cricket lover. I guess that is in our blood.

I like music, any type provided it is melodious. Some of my close friends cannot understand how a person can like English Rock as well as Hindi Pop and good old movie tracks! But that is me. I like them all. Music provides a background for me, when I do something serious like studying/ programming. I have a wish and that is to learn one music instrument so well that I can make others happy. Lets see when I accomplish that!

Ohh.. I have a dubious ability! Give me any kind of junk, and promise I can convert them into something which can beautify your drawing room! When I was a school kid, I used to make very elaborate things (building, car, houseboat, castle, truck etc.) with cardboards. I am quite good at that, you can have reasonably high hopes on that.

Did I say that I like computer games quite a lot ? Well, if not ask my friend and roomie at SPJIMR: Kaps (Sundeep). I have played so many of them; but one game simply stands out - TETRIS (Download now!). Yes, this is one game Subbu, Kaps and I used to play so much at SP... only the keyboard knows! Bad luck dear keyboard! Kaps was the best, followed by Subbu and then me. And we were never far from each other which made the situation more competitive.

A House Boat

I like trekking a lot. And walking also. I get pure thrill from these activities. I started trekking at a very early age. I and my friends  would go to small hillocks nearby and feel great. Then I had the experience of participating in High Altitude Trekking (HALT) when I was in Tata Steel. We went to Uttarkashi in Uttranchal. Spending a few days on snow near Dodital was a unique experience for me. We climbed to a height of about 12500 ft. In addition to that, I have trekked quite a lot in the Karjat region of Sahayadri hills in Maharashtra with my close friends Kaps, Debu, Subbu et al. You may like to read this .

On a serious note, I like to play Bridge. My father introduced me to this game when I was enjoying my first summer vacation from IIT KGP. Till date my best partner has been Shuvro (IIT KGP - EE - AZAD - 97).

My Masterpieces???

I just love reading, more so if it is Science related or oriented. I have a reasonably big collection already. I love my books as much as their contents and so at my home, my books are accorded highest priority in terms of care. It also helps that my parents also have the same feeling. Check out my all time favourites.

I like taking notes in the class. I guess it is an art: jotting down while listening and understanding. I do a good job of that. Add to that the facts that my handwriting is good most of the times and the fact that I use small fonts, my notes have always been in great demand before the exams. :-)

My friends from IIT KGP EE, Tata Steel and SPJIMR will certainly acknowledge that. What do you say, buddies ?
