The two years at S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai were starkly different from the days at IIT Kharagpur when it came to acads but talk about the campus life... oh yes, SP is one great place!

The beauty of SP is its smallness and compactness. Where else can one find a B school where one walks out his room straight into the class room (literally!). Ladies were a lil unlucky lot though, considering the Mumbai rains. Yes thats SP. Having got used to the big places (the KGP campus and the Tata Steel plant were really very big), it was a pleasant surprise for me when I stepped into this place.

The warmthness of this place is really worth mentioning... in a few days after the orientation programme, we all got  close. The faculty were easily approachable and helpful.

The First Year (PGP 1) : I was in Div A in PGP 1. And we had (or were we forced ? :-) ) to do lots of group work (I guess thats how B schools differentiate themselves from engineering colleges!!!).

I am all dressed up for the farewell party at SPJIMR, Mumbai
What is AcadCom ?
This committee tries to help the institute in academics. AcadCom (1999 - 2000), to which I belonged did the following glorious things:

1. We created SPJIMR's first online academic intranet site. Kudos to Kaps and Jiggy!

2. We developed an MS Excel VBA based grading software. Kudos to Jiggy and me!!!

3. Excellent scheduling of academic activities, thanks to the tireless efforts of Vasudha, Vandana and Anuj.

I still consider my first trimester group as the best group. Mandaar, Tintin (Nitin), Prash, Smriti, Aparna and me formed this deadly group! Mandaar... do u have anything more to add ;-) ?

My Acadcom (Academic Committee) group was also really great! Jiggy (Jignesh), Kaps (Sundeep) and I did so many things...wow! We were always experimenting, that was our secret to the success.

First year was also memorable because of the Lonavala trip (Personal Growth Lab). Also I cannot ever forget the MarkOps and MarkStrat simulation games, Prof. Ravi Shankar's Crystal Ball simulations, the hilarious Prof. Ckakrabarti, fundu Costing funda; from Mr. Hariharan, Mafsa funda from Mr. Raghu Iyer, superb Business Policy classes by Prof. S. Rao  and many others.......... :-)

Somu, Mona, Dada and me with Atish taking the snap: small bong group!
The Second Year (PGP 2) : Second year was very hectic indeed! Since I was specialising in Information Management (IM), so we all got more focussed and I learnt a lot. And can I ever forget Shuvam - The God? He used to teach us Web Technology and what a teacher he was! Some of the other memorable faculty were Mr. Kalgud ( Networking), Dr. Rakshit (DBMS) and Mr. Prasad (APT).

Second year was also a period when I came close to many wonderful personalities: Dada (Biswaroop), Atish, Somu (Somnath), Shantanu, Mona (Monalisa),Arif, Sandy (Sandip), Satman (Sateesh),.............. and yes Debu! (Debmalya) and Anna (Vijay). The cuttings, the fags, the endless wait for the God to come and give us some pearls of wisdom, the placements, the booze parties, the B2B discussions  -  that sums up the second year!

One more thing, I was always busy as I was the IM-2 coco (student coordinator)! My job: scheduling classes and postponing assignments and tests ...lol

IM 2 (Batch of Y2K1) batch snap

My room and my roomies: My abode B-3 was also home to Kaps and Prash. All of us were from KGP (same batch) and then joined and worked together for Tata Steel, Jamshedpur for the same period. At SP also we decided to stay together. :-) The memories ? ohhhhhh too many to count! Like for instance, Prash and I chatting endlessly to phoren babes on AOL, ICQ..., Kaps sleeping like a log when the whole batch is trying to crack a case, Prash and the Royal Stag duet (oh that was the talk of the town) and the treks!

Kaps and I have done quite a few treks in the Karjat region of Shayadri Mountains. Sad though is the fact that we never could take a camera :-( but memories die hard.

The magnificent Gateway of India, Mumbai
Mumbai Life: This city has it all. Always busy, fast paced and yet orderly, thats   Mumbai! The always crowded trains, fast or slow, the autos and the BEST buses together make every part of this city so well connected.

I and KB (Koushik) have many fond memories of Juhu beach, Toto's garage, Ontoes, Only Fish, and many other places ;-) !

It is only because of KB that I got to know so much about Mumbai. And like millions of people, I just love this city. Aamchi Mumbai Jindabaad!

The two years at SP and Mumbai were also memorable because a lot of my friends were staying in Mumbai. The Jampot gang was almost present: Black (Ashutosh), Pundir ( Diwakar) and Hudda (Ashwini) were working; Mehn (Neeraj), Brown (Rajat) and   Santy (Santosh) were a batch junior to us at SP and MumBhai (Praveen) was the visiting guest.

And KB was also in Mumbai during my stay! Yo... KB !!!
